Lori Willcuts' latest release, "Blackeyed Susans," resonates with richly crafted lyrics and music that only a well-grounded, happy soul can produce. Listen to Lori's songs and you'll hear a voice that is world-wise, but never world-weary. There is remarkable honesty in her self-penned lyrics, but unyielding hope as well. Her songs are about real life and real people, because that's what she surrounds herself with. From the sweet story of a truck-driving dad who always remembers his little girl with wild flowers, to a song about recovering from drugs to win a daughter back, Lori's songs find a way to make you laugh, cry and everything in between...just like life.
Like her songs, Lori is not to be pinned down to a particular genre of music. Even though she has had success in Bluegrass and Christian Country, Lori is a true songwriter in the Country tradition of heart felt lyrics and vocal integrity that mirrors her personality.
She is honest and open about her journey; a winding path with many interesting turns and sidebars. Lori has collaborated with some very talented producers and musicians, including the likes of: Richie Owens (Dolly Parton), Al Perkins (Tori Amos, Garth Brooks, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, The Rolling Stones), Larry Atamanuik (Alison Krauss and Union Station), Adam Schoenfeld (Big and Rich), Ronnie McCoury (Del McCoury Band, Steve Earle) and many more. Lori has opened for the Judds, Joe Diffie and the "Barely Famous" Warren Brothers and has had the honor of performing at the historic Ryman Theater.
"Blackeyed Susans," is Lori's most recent of three albums, joining "I See An Angel" and "Rainbows and Waterfalls;" each, interesting and introspective of her thoughts about life. Lori shares her journey with her husband Marc, and two sons, Chase and Chandler.
